Skis, Suds, & Slices

At Chester Bowl, we believe that every family should be able to learn to ski or snowboard and attend summer camp regardless of their family income. That’s why we offer full or partial scholarships to any family that requests one. Last winter we awarded $28,000 in winter scholarship to 109 families, and we award an average of $8,000 in summer camp scholarships.

But we need your help!

We anticipate that scholarship requests will be higher than ever this winter. Can you help us support our scholarship needs through this re-imagined, virtual Skis, Suds, & Slices? There are several ways to help.

Donate:  First, you can simply make a donation. All donations are tax-deductible, and every dollar you donate will go directly towards scholarship. You can donate online at this link. You can also send a check to Chester Bowl, 1801 East Skyline Parkway, Duluth MN 55812.

Silent Auction:  You can also bid on silent auction items (is it too early to say you could keep Christmas lists in mind?). Items will be posted to preview on Monday, 11/9, although there are a few Chester specific items up now. The auction will be open for bids starting Wednesday, 11/11, through 9pm on Friday, 11/13. Don’t be afraid to bid high to make sure that you get what you want! You do not need to buy an event ticket to bid on silent auction items. Check it all out at this link.

Raffle Tickets:  Want to give, but you are also feeling lucky? Buy raffle tickets at this link! Each $10 raffle ticket gives you a chance at one of six incredible prizes- a pizza a month for a year from Vitta Pizza, TWO sets of a pizza a month for a year from Toppers Pizza, a growler a month for a year from Bent Paddle plus a $75 gift card from the Duluth Grill family of restaurants, a Crowler a month for a year from Ursa Minor, and a cooler filled with adult beverages, including wines donated from Fitger’s Wine Cellars and Southern Wine and Spirits, three growler fills from Bent Paddle, and Cider from Wild State Cider. Raffle tickets are item #2 listed in the silent auction; buying more increases your chances to win! You do not need to buy an event ticket to buy raffle tickets.

Event Tickets:  Finally, although we can’t party in person, we are still having a party! Your $25 ticket gives you access to an exclusive livestream with music recorded just for us by Black River Revue and Breanne Marie and the Front Porch Sinners, as well as sharing some Chester Bowl stories. Your ticket also gets you one vote for the Twin Ports Best Pizza (the trophy currently sits on the counter at Bulldog Pizza), one automatic entry into the raffle, and a punchcard that gives you a coupon for $5 off a $25 purchase at Toppers and a BOGO deal at each of the following: Wild State Cider, Bent Paddle, Vikre, Earth Rider, and Blacklist! Buy your ticket at this link!

Partner Businesses:  Finally, there are several ways to contribute through partner businesses- check those out below, or at this link!

  • Visit Vikre during the month of November, and $1 from each Cocktail Kit goes back to Chester Bowl! Watch for a special Chester themed kit starting on November 5! See their cocktail kits at this link.
  • Visit Bulldog Pizza on November 9 or 10, and tell them you are with Chester Bowl. They will donate 20% of sales of any full price pizzas for dine in or carry-out back to Chester!
  • Purchase a Chester Bowl specific print from Brian Barber, and $10 from each sale will be donated to Chester Bowl! Check it out now at this link!
  • Earth Rider is hosting a Chester Bowl day in their outdoor concert venue, 6-9pm on Saturday, 11/14, with a concert by Boss Mama & the Jebberhooch featuring Colleen Myhre! There is a $5 event cover, and then a percentage of beer sales from the event are begin donated back to Chester Bowl. It will also be another opportunity to purchase raffle tickets before the winners are drawn on Monday. Visit their Facebook event page to find out more. You can pay the cover online in advance or upon arrival.

We are so grateful to those businesses and organizations that have already supported Skis, Suds, & Slices, including the Provost family in memory of Jeff Provost, the Eltink Family, LHB, Ski Hut and Rotary Club 25. The US Bank Foundation is supporting overall winter programming, and the Minnesota Power Foundation generously supported our 2020 Summer Camp scholarship requests.
