Cheers to Chester on September 1st

Ski Hut, Bent Paddle, and Chester Bowl all believe that skiing, snowboarding, and summer camp should be available to everyone- and they are throwing a party at Bent Paddle to help make that vision a reality for generations to come! Buy raffle tickets, round up at the register at Bent Paddle (Sept 1-15) and join us at this benefit with the Chester Bowl community to support this cause! Raffle tickets give you a chance to win a sweet Specialized Como 4.0 e-bike ($3,750 value!), a Bent Paddle/ Frost River/ Duluth Grill prize package, and more! The more you buy, the more perks you get (like BP gift cards), plus your chances of winning increase! Ross Thorn will be playing live music from 6-8, and the Rambler will be there from 5-9. Plus, there will be outdoor games and kids activities! It is so easy, and so fun, to support the mission of Chester Bowl!

Join in the group ride to the event! We are meeting at 3pm at Chester Bowl. Limited shuttle return spots are available. Sign up at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cheers-to-chester-mtb-social-ride-tickets-410556354107

Volunteer at the Chester Creek Concert Series!

The Chester Creek Concert Series consists of ten free Tuesday night concerts at Chester Bowl. The City of Duluth is the lead agency, and Chester Bowl supports the series.

Each week we need three volunteers to help the event happen. We meet at the stage one hour before show time for training and to get bright vests and radios. The first hour is spent helping direct cars to parking. During the 90 minute show volunteers are available to help as needed, but mostly just get to listen to the music. After the show, we spend up to 30 minutes picking up garbage and otherwise cleaning up the area.

Volunteers must be 18 or older. This is the first volunteer opportunity that could count towards your winter volunteer requirement for winter 2022/2023.

Please review the available slots at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090d4daaae2ca4fa7-chester1 and then click on the button to sign up. The listed times are the volunteer times, with concerts starting one hour later (start times shift in August). The concert on August 23 is a rain date, and will only be used if one of the prior weeks is rained out.

Welcome Sam Gravelle!

We are delighted to welcome Sam Gravelle to Chester Bowl as our new Program Assistant! This new full-time role expands our year-round team from two people to three. Sam G will be supporting all programming at Chester, including being the site coordinator for summer camp at the Lower Chester site, and supporting the daily operations of the ski and snowboard hill.

Sam G worked with us this last winter as a lift operator, snowboard instructor, and terrain park coordinator. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a degree in Environmental and Outdoor Education, and has previous experience as an Adventure Guide and a Recreation Manager in Northern Minnesota and in California. Sam’s hobbies include mountain biking, snowboarding, and fly fishing.

We are most impressed by his positive attitude, ability to connect to our users of all ages, and his work ethic.

Welcome to the full time team, Sam! Next time you see him in the park, be sure to give him a welcome and a high-five.
