Gearing up for the 2009-10 Ski Season at Chester Bowl
Winter will soon be upon us, and one of the best places to enjoy it is at Chester Bowl. At the moment, the Chester Bowl Improvement Club (CBIC) is, literally, gearing up for the winter season, fitting hundreds of families with ski equipment as part of their season ski package. The CBIC provides inexpensive season ski packages, including skis, poles, boots, helmets, and season ski passes, for those that want to take part in ski lessons or other fun activities at Chester Bowl. Many parents call the Chester Bowl Ski Program the best deal in town, but for those unable to afford the already low prices, scholarships are available.
Chester Bowl equipment is intended to be used primarily at Chester Bowl but participants are allowed to use the equipment at other ski mountains as well. In fact, Spirit Mountain or Mont Du Lac ski areas will give one free daily lift ticket to holders of a Chester Bowl season pass. After that one time pass, Mont du Lac will continue to give Chester Bowl season pass holders a 50% discount off a daily pass. The CBIC is currently doing fittings, and has openings available on Thursday, December 3. While there is currently equipment available in all size ranges, that will change. Included in the season packages, CBIC provides beginner and intermediate ski lessons for all ages, toddler through adult. At Chester Bowl ski camp, during the week between Christmas and New Years, it is very common for young kids, who have never skied before the start of camp, to be skiing independently using the chair lift by the end of the week. Lessons continue throughout the ski season – for youths on Thursday evenings and for adults on Saturday mornings. There are also racing lessons and freestyle lessons for both ski and snowboard. As usual, the CBIC will host half a dozen races this season, with over a hundred racers expected at each. For teen-aged skiers ready for a bit more involvement and responsibility, there is also a ski cadet program.
